Tying your scarf a million ways is one thing. But belting the thing? That’s something only crazy cat ladies do, right? Wrong. Here, five ways to belt a scarf like a boss.
WITH LOTS OF LAYERS
When the temperature really starts to drop, a wide stole belted under your best coat gives the illusion of a menswear vest.
WITH LONG FRINGE
Calf-length fringe stays out of your coffee (or meal or mouth) when you secure the scarf with a thin belt at the waist.
AS A CAPE
The trick for all this fabric is to belt it high and spread it out over the arms. Leave enough room near your torso so the look is more like a poncho and less like a straight jacket.
OR AS A NECKTIE
For dressy days, take a long silk kerchief and loop it once around, then secure it at the waist. Your outfit is instantly refined.
OVER THE SHOULDER
Play with asymmetry and drape a knit over one shoulder. Leave plenty of fabric below the belt so the scarf stays in place.
