A Style Guide for Navigating Any Upcoming Occasion

Richard Wright

We all do it--stare aimlessly into our closet (stuffed to the brim with clothes) and think to ourselves, Well, I have absolutely nothing to wear. Highly unlikely, but it’s our reality.

Thankfully, there’s an easy fix and it starts by equipping yourself with a few clever outfit ideas. We’ve teamed up to bring you styling tricks for four different events on your fall calendar, from a work promotion (you know it will happen any day now) to an afternoon potluck with the family.

Finally answering the age-old question, “What do I wear?”

Take a look and plan your schedule accordingly.

FIRST DAY AT A NEW JOB

Long gone are the days of school pictures, but just as tricky is the first day on the job. Whether you’re starting a new gig or you just got that big promotion, we love the idea of playing with proportion. This season try a long tunic worn over a pair of cropped pants and topped with a lightweight jacket. Finish it off with strappy heels now, and then switch to booties later in the season.

SHOPPING WITH FRIENDS

It’s no longer warm enough for tank tops, but it’s not exactly time to bust out the car coat. Find a happy medium in the pullover knit sweater. To style, simply don a pair of on-trend bootcut jeans and ankle booties. It’s that easy.

A Night Out

A NIGHT OUT

An evening on the town always calls for a little something extra. This season, fringe is that little something. Make a subtle statement by sporting a tassel on your handbag or go for a big impact with this faux-suede fringe dress. Hope you like attention.

Family Gathering

FAMILY GATHERING

Chances are your family gatherings usually involve lots of food and lots of lounging. For an outfit that works double-duty, try a cozy turtleneck worn over your comfiest pants. Top with a plush cardigan and prepare yourself for plenty of compliments from your sister-in-law.
